 WASHBURN COUNTY AREA HUMANE SOCIETY
Spooner, Wisconsin

The Washburn County Area Humane Society is a non-profit organization. All donations are used for the care of the animals and operating costs. While relying primarily on donations, some limited funding is received from Washburn County, area cities, and area townships. Donations of money or supplies are tax deductible. A tax slip will be given to you at the time of your donation.

On 4-30-08 Washburn County Sheriff's Department seized 20 adult Labrador Retrievers and three 8 week old puppies from one residence.  All the dogs have parasites and many are malnourished.  Some of the dogs have other medical issues and over half of them are un-socialized to the point that they can not be touched.  At this time we are unsure how long the dogs must be held before going up for adoption.  We are most in need of:  Dog food, laundry detergent, bleach, biscuits and monetary donations.  Thank you! (See web page)

Washburn County Area Humane Society will be hosting the first annual "Par for Pets" Golf Scramble, Sunday, June 8, at the Black Bear Golf Course in Minong, Wisconsin.  This is a  4-person scramble and the cost is $200/team or $50/person.  Registration begins at 12:30 PM with a shotgun start at 1:30 PM.  Golf score prizes, putting green and pin games, raffles and give-a-ways will be part of the fun throughout the day.  This is a no handicap tournament and men & women of all golf skill levels are welcome.  WGMO's Rock & Roll Dr. Dan will be the tournament host that day.  An e-mail address has been set up for more information or for questions

All profits from this fundraiser will go directly to the animal shelter.  Your generosity if you would like to donate a prize, be on a team, or sponsor a hole, would be greatly appreciated.  You may call Patti Burns at 715-468-2171 or Connie Salquist at 715-635-7677 for prize donations, or call the Black Bear Golf Course at 715-466-2314 to enter a team or sponsor a hole.
